Pastor's Weekly Blog

Hello my Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This past week has been an eventful one. The weather convergence last Thursday caused me a considerable amount of pain. I had to rest and take pain medication more than I have had to in a while. Thank you for all your prayers. I had a great time worshipping and studying the Gospel of Luke with you this past weekend. During my messages God puts the pain that I am in out of my mind. I don't notice or feel any pain during that 20 minutes or so. Truly a blessing from God.

Barbara and I took our youngest daughter for a college visit after worship on Sunday. She loves the school and auditioned for a performance scholarship and she received one. She made the decision to attend this college and Barbara and I are ecstatic. God provides in many different ways.

Your prayers are a great blessing to me. I can feel God giving me strength to do His mission of seeking and saving lost people. I pray for all of you each day and I hope that my prayers are as beneficial to you as yours are to me.

Always Following Jesus,
Pastor Randy

Pastor's Weekly Blog

Greetings in Christ Everyone,

What a great weekend it was worshipping with all of you. The Holy Spirit was working hard on all of us. What a great joy! At our Journey Through the Gospel of Luke Bible study we were again amazed at the insight that the Holy Spirit is giving us each and every time that we meet. My life is truly being transformed and many who are there have shared with me that they are noticing that their lives are being transformed as well - and they do not want to miss the study, ever. That is good to hear. If you are not attending I enthusiastically encourage you to come and let the Holy Spirit grow you as He has been doing to us who have been there.

I am enjoyng the sunshine today. I can calm the pain down some by letting the sun shine on my face through the window. It feels good. I remember when I was a child I use to lay down on the floor by the window in our family room and let the sun bake me, especially if I had been out playing in the snow - what a good memory. My arm is feeling much stronger these days. I can grab and hold on to things much better now, so I am still progressing. Thank you for all of your prayers and good wishes I truly appreciate every one.

In the Care of Jesus,
Pastor Randy

Pastor's Weekly Blog

Hello my Sisters and Brothers in Jesus,

I'm very excited about the opportunites that are before us in 2010. We have the opportunity to learn how to function as a healthy congregation and establish a strategic ministry plan that we can collectively put together and implement over the years to grow and strengthen God's kingdom. All of us at Friends In Christ and everyone in our Morris community need the foundation of Jesus Christ and the strength and compassion of the Body Of Christ, and we, by the help of the Holy Spirit, can be that strength and compassion.

We learned from Jesus (Luke 9:61-62) last Sunday that we need to work hard in the present and plan for the future in order for what falls into the past to be right. If we are looking at the past to see if it is right then we are distracted from the present and fail to plan for the future. What we are to do is take what we have learned along the way and apply it to the present work and also to the future plan and we will be plowing wonderfully looking fields for Jesus. We plow and scatter seed, but only God can make anything grow.

Living with the cold is still an ongoing struggle for me. When the temperatures really drop it does affect me a great deal. Thank you all for your prayers, compassion, and encouragement. I love you all.

In the Arms of Jesus,
Pastor Randy

Happy New Year Brothers and Sisters!

I am praying that this year will be a less injurious year - my wife and kids are also. The cold continues to be a challenge for me and has taken some getting use to, but God has been very gracious and allowed me to continue to push ahead without hinderance. I am also praying that all goes well for you and your families according to God's grace in 2010.

I am excited about our opportunities in 2010; to grow in God's Word, to plan together our future as the body of Christ in this community, and to put together a strategy that God brings to us in order to grow His kingdom in Morris and the surrounding area. We all need to be a part of this process of discovering what God has planned for us to for Him where we work, live, and have fun.

We have a voters' meeting coming up this Sunday I hope that all of you can make it. It is always important for us to get together and move forward in the same direction - the direction that God is pointing us in. See you all this weekend!

In the Gracious Arms of Jesus,
Pastor Randy
